Dillingham Fire Department Secures Grant from Bristol Bay Economic Development Corporation and Bristol Bay Native Corporation for AK-AEMT Training

[Dillingham, Alaska - June 21, 2023] - The Dillingham Fire Department is proud to announce that it has been awarded a generous grant from both the Bristol Bay Economic Development Corporation (BBEDC) and the Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC) to enhance the emergency medical capabilities of its dedicated firefighter EMTs. This grant will enable six members of the Dillingham Fire Department to participate in the prestigious Alaska Prehospital Education Consortium’s (APEC) Alaska Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AK-AEMT) course.

The APEC AK-AEMT course, known for its online learning format and hands-on training, is a critical step in the ongoing professional development of our firefighters. By attending this program, these brave individuals will gain specialized knowledge and skills that will significantly enhance their ability to provide effective pre-hospital care in emergency situations.

The support provided by the Bristol Bay Economic Development Corporation and the Bristol Bay Native Corporation underscores their commitment to public safety and community well-being. This grant will cover the tuition fees, travel expenses, and other associated costs for the Dillingham Fire Department’s six firefighter EMTs to attend the APEC AK-AEMT course.
