Partner With APEC

Build Local EMS Education & Workforce in Your Community

The Alaska Prehospital Education Consortium (APEC) partners with instructors and agencies across Alaska to expand access to high-quality EMS education. Our partnership programs are designed to keep training local, strengthen community capacity, and create a sustainable pipeline of future EMS providers.

Whether you are an experienced instructor or represent a fire department, EMS agency, or regional council, APEC offers a structured way to support students while maintaining clear standards and shared responsibilities.

APEC Affiliated Instructor Program

Teach Locally. Stay Independent. Get Support.

The APEC Affiliated Instructor Program allows State of Alaska–certified Advanced EMS Instructors to affiliate with APEC and support students in their own communities.

Affiliated instructors enroll their local students into APEC’s online curriculum and then guide them through skills practice, mentorship, and portfolio completion while collaborating with APEC faculty for assessment and course completion.

    • Enroll local students into APEC programs

    • Provide hands-on skills support and mentorship

    • Guide student portfolios and remediation

    • Coordinate with APEC Lead and Assistant Lead Instructors

    • Participate in initial and ongoing instructor training

    • Online curriculum and learning platform

    • Skills sheets and evaluation standards

    • Faculty oversight and assessments

    • Administrative and compliance support

    • Per-student compensation for affiliated instructors

  • Instructors who:

    • Hold State of Alaska Advanced EMS Instructor certification

    • Want to teach locally without running a full program

    • Value collaboration and structured standards

APEC Partnering Agency Program

Grow Your Workforce Pipeline While Supporting Local Students

The APEC Partnering Agency Program is designed for fire departments, EMS agencies, and regional or tribal councils that want to support local EMS education without operating a training program themselves.

Partnering agencies agree to allow APEC-enrolled students to access facilities and equipment for skills practice and virtual training sessions alongside an APEC Affiliated Instructor.

There is no obligation to hire or certify students—only the opportunity to invest in your future workforce and support community members pursuing EMS education.

    • Access to training space as available

    • Access to EMS equipment for skills practice

    • A supportive professional learning environment

    • Coordination with affiliated instructors and APEC faculty

    • Early exposure to motivated local students

    • A natural recruitment pipeline for volunteers and employees

    • Reduced onboarding risk and hiring uncertainty

    • Stronger community relationships and workforce retention

  • Agencies who:

    • Want to recruit and retain local EMS providers

    • Have facilities or equipment available for training

    • Prefer partnership over program administration
